The Miami rendition of the Ship of Tolerance took place on the Watson Island waterfront 2012 in conjunction with the Miami Children’s Museum and Art Basel Maimi Beach.
Access to the Ship was free.
Construction started in November by student carpenters from Manchester College in Great Britain directed and supervised by two professors.
300 local school children organized by the Miami Children’s Museum painted scenes of tolerance on one-square meter panels of fabric which was assembled as a beautiful sail on the completed ship.
Miami’s rich diversity offered the perfect laboratory for The Ship of Tolerance which served as a vehicle for children to transcend the tensions that divide our world.
